Dailies 06 3/22/2013 : Ben's Notes

Notes:

  • Add neck reaction to head tilt
  • I like that you took out the spit. It's less distracting. :)
  • Add keep alive frame throughout
  • Tweak Camella eye shapes
  • Add stagger to the tip of the tongue
  • Use the fill color for the brush stroke on the tongue to the bottom of Jamal's mouth when it's open.
  • Nice hair settle
  • Like how you did the chew.  It's great that you can feel the flesh around his eyes.
The next shot for you is Sleep_02_01_BA01.
It's the shot we spoke about that Asia in-betweened.
Add those extra frames according to the timing charts on the tie-down layer, then go ahead and clean-up.

Sleepless ftp -> 03_CleanUpScenes -> Sleepless_Seq02 -> Sleep_02_01_BA01

Dailies 06 3/22/2013 : Asia's Notes

Blogger won't let me upload videos today.  :(

Notes:
Fix the fin
Fix the mouth-line
Don't worry about the cheek hair this time.

Nice work on the fish and going with a larger pencil width for when Jamal gets super close to the camera.

Your next shot is Sleep_03_05.  You can download the folder at:
Sleepless ftp -> 03_CleanUpScenes -> Sleepless_Seq03 -> Sleep_03_05_JAS01

Nice job of adding the tie-down in-betweens on Sleep_02_01.  :)

Dailies 06 3/22/2013 : Andriy's Notes

Notes:
Add in-betweens to any drawing on 4's
Vickner note: have the water going up past the neck into the body a bit more visibly.
For future reference, be careful about changing the shape of the feet

Nice work on maintaining the shape of the hair on top of the hump and on the smaller details as Jamal get's larger.

Let me know when the updated version of 5_05 is uploaded to the ftp.  I'm working on updating the working reel this weekend.  :)

Dailies 04 3/8/2013 : Joanna Shim's Notes

Notes:
  • I like how you've cleaned up Camella in the distance.
  • It looks like Camella's eyebrows are a different blue on frame 50.  If it's the cleaned-up line, make sure to use the appropriate color swatches from the 'Character Color Map'.  found Here.  I can see you're using the correct colors for the outlines of Camella and Jamal, but figured I'd mention it anyway.
  • Keep it up.  I have a feeling you don't need to be as tidy with your linework. It's super clean, but challenge yourself to be a little faster and it's ok if it's little messier because of it.
Looking forward to seeing it next week.  :)

Dailies 04 3/8/2013 : Asia's Notes

Notes:
  • Redraw the last frame at least 3 times, then loop them on 2's. Keep's the character alive in a held-pose.
  • Same thing for the hand holding the head prior to the head being dropped into the water.
  • We didn't talk about this at the dailies, but once the main head comes to a stop, can you add some secondary action on the beard? So when the head hits it's held-pose at frame 124, the beard continues moving to the position on, say, frame 130.  If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I can explain it more thoroughly.
  • I really like how you used a thicker line-weight as Jamal got closer to the camera.  :) Nice detail.
Great work so far! This weekend I'll tie-down Blinky, the fish.

I know that this one isn't the final, final version but.....  FINAL!
*I'll edit the post once I get the other version.

Dailies 04 3/8/2013 : Andriy's Notes

Notes:
  • I like the changes that were made to the hair 'poofs'.
  • In your old version, I liked how Jamal inhales, then exhales. Put that back in.
  • I also like that you tried to be more sensitive to line-weight.  Keep doing that.
  • She's definitely looking at him more now at the end which is good.
  • There are still some issues with Camella's face but I'll go into the shot and tweak the key frames myself once you finish coloring the shot.
Finish coloring the shot, then you can get started on the next one.
The first couple shots always take the longest because we're getting into a groove.

* This was the only version of this shot on the ftp that I could find, although I know you've done a second pass on it since this one doesn't have toenails.

Tonight, can you upload your folder for this shot as well? I'll edit this post once I see the new version.
